New cases of new coronavirus that have emerged in the center of the Chinese city of Wuhan in late December around the world are reported daily.According to the World Health Organization, at least 8,648 people worldwide have died from COVID-19, as the disease is officially known, while more than 207,000 infections have been confirmed in at least 166 countries and territories.

A total of 697 people on the quarantined Diamond Princess cruise ship docked in Yokohama had tested positive for the virus. Seven people who were on the ship died.
